(Seasonal) Park Maintenance Worker - Splash Pad

Kensington Metropark - Milford, MI - Seasonal

PAY RATE:  $16.63 per hour (up to 600 hours per year or 120 days per season).

Eligible part-time employees will receive up to a $5.75 per hour retention bonus for all hours worked from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Additionally, eligible seasonal employees will receive a $0.60 per hour seasonal bonus for all hours worked. For details, click here

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Under the direct supervision of the Park Maintenance Supervisor, work activities in this position primarily involve the maintenance of the Aquatic Facility.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES: The list below is intended to describe the general nature of duties only. Employee shall perform other duties as assigned.

  • Daily inspection, cleaning and maintenance of waterslides, grounds, splash pad, and equipment.
  • Perform multiple daily water samples and testing to maintain water quality per health and state regulations. Adjust water chemical balance, as needed.
  • Troubleshoot problems with pump and chlorination systems.
  • Maintain daily use reports for water and chlorine consumption.
  • Performs grounds maintenance activities including litter clean up, trash removal, grass cutting and trimming, and flower bed maintenance.
  • Perform minor repairs of equipment, facility, fixtures, features, and other items.
  • Assist with seasonal start up and shut down of facility and features.

WORK SCHEDULE:

This is a seasonal position beginning April 17 and ending October 15 each year. The hours of work required for this position are as follows:

6:00 AM – 2:00 PM (April 17 – May 29)

9:00 AM – 7:00 PM (May 30 – Sept. 3)

7:00 AM – 3:00 PM (Sept. 4 – Oct. 15)

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Candidates must be 18 years of age or older and must have a valid driver's license.
  • General math skills including, but not limited to addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and the ability to read measurements.
  • Ability to load, unload and move materials between work locations of 50 lbs. or more.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to get along with co-workers, supervisors, and park visitors.
  • May be required to adjust schedule to meet organizational needs, including special events, evenings, weekends & holidays.
  • Ability to perform essential duties.
  • Aquatic facility maintenance and operation experience preferred
  • Knowledge of pumps, chemicals, water chemistry, & control preferred.

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to apply knowledge of materials, tools, practices and methods of grounds maintenance.
TOOLS & EQUIPMENT USED: Requires the frequent use of hand tools used for raking, digging, pruning, leveling, repair of irrigation systems; custodial tools such as brooms, mops, toilet plungers; landscape equipment consisting of large mowers, small tractors, groomers and snow blowers; basic construction tools such as hammers, saws, tape measures, carpenter square. Miscellaneous hand and power tools used for turf maintenance, carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, and cement finishing work. Less use of personal computer, word processing, phone, radio, calculator and copy machine.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.
