(Part-Time) Grant Coordinator

Administrative Office - Brighton, MI - Part Time

PAY RATE: $25.50 - $39.00 per hour (up to 1500 hours per year).

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Under the direction of the Chief of Planning & Development, this year-round, part time position is primarily responsible for developing and writing grant proposals to foundations and other grant-making organizations. The position will assemble and submit grant requests, establish and maintain personal contact and relationships with foundation and agency contacts, conduct prospect research, maintain a calendar of submissions and other deadlines and provide administrative follow-up for grants received.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Works under the general direction of the Chief of Planning & Development.   Position works independently and exercises some judgment and discretion in completion of duties.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Developing and writing grant proposals to foundations and other grant-making organizations, persuasively communicating the organization’s mission and programs to potential funders.
  • Assembling and submitting grant requests, including letters, proposals, budgets, and presentations.
  • Establishing and maintaining personal contact and relationships with foundation contacts and program officers.
  • Ensuring prompt acknowledgement of foundation gifts.
  • Monitors grant funds and prepares reports.
  • Maintaining calendar to ensure timely submission of letters of inquiry, proposal deadlines, and reports. Conducting prospect research.
  • Prioritizing projects to keep multiple projects moving in a timely manner, meet deadlines and manage supplemental material required for proposals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communications, English, writing or similar field. Applicants with 8 or more years of related service will be given credit toward meeting the minimum educational requirements and will be considered for the position.
  • Demonstrated successful grant writing experience.
  • Possess excellent writing and computer skills (MS Office Suite) and database management skills.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills with the ability to implement systems and follow-up processes.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with the CEO, staff officers, employees, foundations and outside agencies.
  • May be required to adjust schedule to meet organizational needs, including special events, evenings, weekends & holidays.
  • Ability to perform essential duties.
TOOLS & EQUIPMENT USED: Personal computer including financial, accounting, payroll, data base, scheduling, publishing, spreadsheet, and word processing software; calculator, copy machines; phone and automobile.
