(Part-Time) Fellow for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

Administrative Office - Brighton, MI - Part Time

PAY RATE:  $20.20 per hour

Eligible part-time employees will receive up to a $3.75 per hour retention bonus for all hours worked from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Click here for details.  

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Reporting to the Chief of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, the Fellow will support the goals of the DEI department engaging in meaningful projects and initiatives that contribute to the advancement of diversity, equity, and inclusion within the Metroparks.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES: The list below is intended to describe the general nature of duties that students may have the opportunity to engage in.

  • Gather and organize data to provide information for departmental special projects or reports.
  • Utilize current Metroparks and/or department specific software to complete assignments.
  • Create content for internal communications or DEI related materials to develop writing skills.
  • Assist with developing and/or improving existing Metroparks programs and initiatives.
  • Work closely with the DEI department to design inclusive programs and experiences for park visitors and employees.
  • Develop a DEI resource page on Metroparks intranet or website for internal use or public access.
  • Support other departments within the Metroparks with specific projects or initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must be an undergraduate college student at a level of Junior or Senior and have completed a minimum of 4 semesters in an accredited college or university or be a recent college graduate. Recent college graduate is defined as a person who graduated college in the spring or summer of the current year.
  • Undergraduate students must provide proof of college enrollment upon hire.
  • Must be available for a 12-week assignment between the months of June and August.
  • Ability to dedicate 20 hours per week to this position, not to exceed 250 hours.
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Ability to remain professional and courteous with customers. 
  • Ability to operate computer and use applicable software program.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to work varied hours depending upon program demands.
  • Ability to get along with co-workers and supervisors.
  • May be required to adjust schedule to meet organizational needs.
  • Ability to perform essential duties.
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
  • Must have the ability to work onsite at a Metropark location as identified by supervisor.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • May be required to travel between parks.
