Marketing/Media Relations Specialist - Administrative Office

LOCATION: Administrative Office

BARGAINING UNIT / LEVEL: Professional Level 10

SALARY RANGE: $73,941 - $81,657 annually DOQ 

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Under the direction of the Director, this position performs technical, professional and administrative work in all phases of marketing, public and media relations. This position seeks to gain awareness and a positive image for the Metroparks and its offerings. This includes promoting specific events or services and is the contact person for media inquiries. Establish and manage programs and initiatives supporting community outreach. Build and maintain long-term relationships with stakeholders to ensure the effective implementation of community relations strategies and activities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in marketing, public relations, communications, journalism or a related field.

Master’s Degree preferred.  

Four years of experience in related field or equivalent in education/training sufficient to demonstrate ability to perform the essential duties.  
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Ability to travel locally and statewide.
Ability to utilize computer system to include publishing, word processing, spreadsheet, graphic design and data base software applications.
Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with supervisors, co-workers, and the public.
Ability to operate listed tools and equipment.
Ability to edit/proofread materials before being submitted for distribution.
Ability to work under stressful conditions and varied hours including weekends and holidays, depending upon marketing events and programs.
Will be required to work assigned Special Events, Weekends, Evenings and Holidays.
Will be required to adjust schedule to meet organizational needs.

Ability to perform essential duties.
